2024 West Coast Nationals
This past weekend saw the running of the 2024 West Coast Nationals and Memorial race at Warm Springs Raceway in Fremont California.
42 entries were spread out across 4 different classes for the 3-day event. In the MCD Rally class, 12 participants took part in what shaped up to be one of the best and most competitive classes for the weekend.
Friday was open practice with a single seeding qualifying round later in the day to set the qualifying heats. Visiting Warm Springs Raceway for the first time it was Rhys Robinson from New Jersey who just the week prior bought and built a new car for the event. Followed closely in second was Blayne Drinnen who is also a first timer to the on-road scene setting up what would become a very tight battle come qualifying. Saturday saw the arrival of more participants in the MCD class. An open practice started off the morning followed by a drivers meeting and then it was straight into 3 rounds of qualifying followed by special 10 minute sprint races in honor of some late track members. At the end of day 1, it was Blayne setting the fastest time in qualifying with a 30/10:03.862. Sunday kicked off the 4th and final round where local fast guy Fernando Jose would set a time of 31/10:13.933 taking the overall TQ. The grid was set for the 25 minute main with the line up being Fernando, Blayne, and Rhys as the top 3 followed by Kurt Jamrus, Jojo Bayabo, Cedric Collins, Danny Pacho, Mark Salvatierra, Hau-Ching Liao, and Clinton Smith who was our bump-up from the B-main rounding out the top 10.
The A-main event started with lots of excitement and as the race progressed any one of the drivers competing had a legitimate shot at taking home the win. In the end, it was Fernando taking home the win followed by Blayne in second and rounding out the podium in third was Jojo.

Congratulations to everybody!
