Detailed race report by Stu Wood, UK:
The 8th and 9th of October 2016 saw the last round of the UK BRCA LSOR at the 2012 EFRA Euro’s track at Nene Valley right next to Santa Pod Raceway in Bedfordshire.
The track is 100% Astro and is very bumpy. There is a big sweeper at the end of the straight into a tight hairpin, over a very sharp sleeping policeman and then into another which you are unable to attach due to the next corner being so close. It then has a short table top which you can over jump but with a big hard landing. A couple of tight corners next and onto the back straight which has a bump into it and then a bump at the end which if you get wrong you end up in the bushes. Small sweeper then goes into another sleeping policeman which you can attach, a left hander and then a double and a single. Sharp right hander into a small straight which is the bumpiest of all and you really have to go around the bumps to have a safe line onto the straight.
Saturday we had a lot of team building and we need a bigger tent. The MCD team was out in force and with 10 drivers with the RR5 we had dominance.
Sunday came around fast and with the damp morning a few of the driver got caught out on how fast the track dried.
Round 2 the track was dry for everybody and the lap times started to drop and there was some close racing. This gave Ian Oddie 2 First’s which puts him TQ for the final. MCD’s Stu Wood came in close second, Guy Page 5th and Chris Sutcliffe 7th.
Round 3 saw some very fast laps from our own Stu Wood and gave him the Fastest time of the day.
Chris Sutcliffe came in 5th and Leon Satchell 7th.
Right before the final started the rain came and all the team got together to discuss tyres. We all came to the same conclusion. Schumacher Silvers. The final started off very slippy as the drivers had to get used to the conditions. Stu kept the pressure right on Ian from the buzzer which led to a failure by Ian’s car and Stu got so close he actually jumped Ian for the lead on the sleeping policeman before the doubles. Stu then didn’t look back and went on to win the final and the last event of the year. Guy Page finished 5th, Chris Sutcliffe 6th and Leon Satchell 10th.
With Guy Page finishing 5th today he has managed to win the BRCA LSOR Clubmans Championship so a very BIG WELL DONE to Guy. Guy was running the new extended chassis and he said that it was the best the car has ever been. Very smooth and safe for this very bumpy track.
Stu Wood said that he did need to have better wet set up but his dry set up he is happy with. Stu Thanks all his sponsors – MCD, King Cobra, RossMod, Hitec and #BBT.
